Senegalese FactsSenegal is located in Western Africa and borders Mauritania, Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Gambia. The capital city is Dakar, and it is located on the Cape Verde Peninsula. The main religion is Islam, with 95 percent of the population following its teachings. Christian religions make up about four percent of the population, which includes Roman Catholics and various Protestant denominations. Animist beliefs make up about one percent of the population. Followers of Buddhism and Judaism are also present within Senegal. |
